Classroom Management
Classroom management is a key component in any educational setting. I believe that classroom management includes an uplifting and positive environment that allows students to feel safe and engaged learning to take place. Praising positive rather than negative behavior, I believe is an important part of classroom management. I want my students to feel comfortable in the classroom, with other classmates, and with me as well so we can have meaningful discussions and interactions.
Setting expectations including behavior and work habits at the beginning of the year sets students up for success for the year and helps them have an understanding of what is expected of them. I believe that a teacher needs to get to know her students and give individualized attention because all students learn differently, have different interests, and have different needs; it will be my job to meet all those needs to set my students up for success and to make sure they enjoy learning. Classroom management is an ongoing learning process because each class will consist of different students and will need adjustments made along the way.
